Red Light Therapy in San Jose, CA

Clinically Studied. Zero Downtime. Skin That Works Better Over Time.

Lightstim Pro

Red Light Therapy is one of the most gentle yet scientifically supported tools in modern skincare — and one that works best when it's used consistently and intelligently as part of a broader skin health plan. At Modern Aesthetics in San Jose, we offer in-office LightStim ProPanel treatments as a post-procedure add-on following injectables and filler, as well as LightStim at-home handheld devices for patients who want to build on their results between visits.

This is not a miracle treatment. It's a commitment — and for patients who make that commitment, the results speak for themselves.

What Is Red Light Therapy?

The science behind Red Light Therapy has roots in NASA research — and LightStim has taken that technology even further.

In the 1980s, NASA scientists discovered that red and near-infrared LED light had remarkable effects on cellular function — accelerating wound healing, stimulating tissue repair, and supporting collagen production. LightStim built on this foundation, developing their patented MultiWave® technology that simultaneously emits multiple wavelengths of light for even more comprehensive skin benefits.

How We Use Red Light Therapy at Modern Aesthetics

At Modern Aesthetics, Red Light Therapy is incorporated thoughtfully — not just offered as an add-on for the sake of it.

Post-Injectable & Filler Add-On Red Light Therapy is offered as a 20-minute in-office add-on following neurotoxin and dermal filler treatments. The anti-inflammatory and collagen-supporting properties of red light can complement recovery and support skin health following these procedures.

One important note: Red Light Therapy is intentionally not offered following laser treatments like CoolPeel. Laser resurfacing works through controlled inflammation — a critical part of how collagen remodeling occurs. Applying red light after a laser treatment would counteract that process. This is the kind of detail that matters when your provider understands the science behind what they're recommending.

At-Home Maintenance For patients committed to long-term skin improvement, consistent at-home Red Light Therapy is where the real results happen. Red Light Therapy requires frequency — ideally 3–5 sessions per week — to produce meaningful collagen support and skin quality improvements over time. In-office treatments alone won't get you there. At-home devices make that consistency possible.

LightStim In-Office: ProPanel

Our in-office Red Light Therapy treatments use the LightStim ProPanel Anti-Aging — a professional-grade LED system that delivers consistent, full coverage red and near-infrared light across larger treatment areas.

Sessions are 20 minutes, completely painless, and relaxing. Most patients incorporate ProPanel treatments as an add-on to their injectable appointments for a seamless skin health boost with no additional recovery time.

LightStim At-Home: Devices

For patients ready to commit to consistent Red Light Therapy at home, we carry and recommend the LightStim for Wrinkles handheld anti-aging device — available for purchase in-office or drop-shipped directly to your door.

Why LightStim over other at-home options? Unlike LED mask devices (such as Omnilux) that are designed specifically for the face or neck and require you to stay stationary, the LightStim handheld device is portable and versatile — it can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, hands, or anywhere else on the body you want to support skin health. One device, unlimited coverage.

Why Choose Modern Aesthetics

At Modern Aesthetics, Red Light Therapy is recommended when it makes sense for your skin — not upsold to every patient regardless of their treatment plan. Sheri will let you know whether incorporating red light makes sense for your current goals, which device is right for you, and — importantly — whether the timing is appropriate given your other treatments.

If you're going to invest in Red Light Therapy, you deserve to know exactly how to use it to get results. That's the conversation we have.

Have questions about red light treatments? Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive at our San Jose medical spa.

FAQs

  • LightStim uses clinically studied LED wavelengths to support collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve overall skin health — without heat, pain, or downtime. It works by stimulating cellular activity within the skin, supporting the natural processes behind collagen synthesis and tissue repair.

  • Absolutely — and it goes back to NASA. In the 1980s, NASA researchers discovered that red and near-infrared LED light had significant effects on cellular healing, tissue repair, and collagen production. LightStim advanced this technology further with their patented MultiWave® system, which simultaneously emits multiple wavelengths of light — delivering more comprehensive benefits than single-wavelength devices. LightStim devices are FDA-cleared and backed by decades of clinical research building on NASA's original findings.

  • At Modern Aesthetics, Red Light Therapy is offered in two ways: as a 20-minute in-office ProPanel add-on following injectable and filler treatments, and as an at-home maintenance program using the LightStim handheld device. It is not offered following laser treatments like CoolPeel, as red light's anti-inflammatory properties would counteract the controlled inflammation that makes laser resurfacing effective.

  • The LightStim ProPanel is a professional-grade in-office system designed for larger treatment areas with consistent, high-output coverage. The at-home LightStim handheld device is designed for regular personal use — portable, versatile, and effective across multiple body areas including face, neck, décolletage, and hands. Unlike LED mask devices that are limited to the face or neck, the LightStim handheld can be used anywhere on the body.

  • Consistency is everything with Red Light Therapy. Meaningful collagen support and skin quality improvements require 3–5 sessions per week over time. In-office treatments alone are not sufficient for optimal results — at-home devices are what make that frequency achievable. Patients who commit to consistent use report improvements in skin tone, texture, and overall skin quality over several weeks and months.

  • Yes — with one important exception. Red Light Therapy pairs well with injectables, filler, Sculptra, and medical-grade skincare. It is specifically not recommended following laser resurfacing treatments, as it would interfere with the controlled inflammatory process that drives laser results. Your provider will help determine the right timing based on your full treatment plan.

  • LightStim devices are FDA-cleared and considered safe for regular use. Treatments are non-invasive, painless, and appropriate for a wide range of skin types. There is no heat, no damage, and no recovery time required.

  • Not at all. Sessions are completely comfortable — most patients find them relaxing. There is no heat sensation, no discomfort, and no skin disruption of any kind.

  • The LightStim for Wrinkles handheld anti-aging device is available at an MSRP of $249 (plus tax). It can be purchased in-office or drop-shipped directly to your home. Ask about purchasing options at your next appointment or contact us directly.

  • Red Light Therapy is a great option for patients committed to consistent, long-term skin improvement — especially those already receiving injectable or filler treatments who want to support their results between visits. A conversation with Sheri will help determine whether in-office treatments, an at-home device, or both make sense for your skin and your lifestyle.
